Cascina Nuova Nizza (organic) 2019, Cascina Nuova

Highly recommended. Piedmont and Barbera; one of the great combinations, often copied but rarely duplicated. Nizza has been an official DOCG in its own right since 2014 such is the overall extremely high quality from this zone.

The wonderful fruit concentration is stunningly rich yet balanced by classic Barbera acidity and smooth tannins.  The hand-harvested fruit is fermented in stainless steel and after 12 days 750kg of dried grapes are added prolonging the fermentation/maceration to 20 days. The wines spend 18 months predominately in barrique barrels (15% new).

I think the price to quality is excellent when comparing this to other Nizza wines.
