Hexamer Grauburgunder Trocken Vom Porphyr (Pinot Gris) 2017, Weingut Hexamer

Dry and freshly textured yet soft and rounded, with cossetting peach and apricot fruit. Lowish alcohol together with naturally low acidity – this is perfect with many lightly spiced vegetable, fish or chicken dishes.

Compared to our offerings from the Mosel this wine from the Nahe has a deeper and more wholesome feel. A combination of marl and red sandstone dominates and owner/winemaker Harald picks relatively late to ensure rich, textural and ripe styles. Yields across the 7ha estate are kept very low, everything is handpicked and the majority of the wines are racked only once to make sure they’re bottled with vigour and have a clean, slatey streak.
