Andy’s Tasting Notes
A super stylish and sophisticated white wine, with a rich and complex charm yet with impeccable balance, length and poise.
Produced in Portalegre to the north east of the Alentejo on the granite foothills of the São Mamede mountains, where cooler temperatures, along with many old vines, contributes to the wines freshness and depth.
Citrus, pineapple and lychee fruit with hints of coconut, baked nuts and brioche. Lovely fresh acidity and an intriguing mineral overtone.
A field blend of Arinto, Anton Vaz and Fernao Pires. 15% of the blend was fermented in new french oak adding a further layer of creamy complexity.
1st Feb 2020, Matthew Jukes (via DailyMail Weekend Magazine ‘Tip-top wines from across the globe – each of which is in a class of its own.’) “This is one of the most involving and complex Portuguese whites I’ve tasted in years. Coming from the Portalegre region, where cooler temperatures and old vines make this a hedonistic treat, this is a main course white with a magical perfume.”
Price per bottle £18.00
