Andy's Tasting Notes

Quite simply a total joyous Pinot Noir with ample depth, delicious smooth fruit and a totally harmonious personality, with no hard or jarring edges.  Delicate smoky and toasted overtones add to the overall impression.

Producer Info

In 1985 after spending ten years abroad Karl Heinz Johner and his wife Irene founded a little Weingut (vineyard & winery) in their home village “Bischoffingen” in the Kaiserstuhl. His focus was set on the Burgundy-wines full of structure and pure elegance. Despite having to overcome problems relating to winemaking in the Kaiserstuhl and German wine laws the young Weingut soon established himself as a pioneer of a new German winestyle recognised as being of an international class. Today “Weingut Karl H. Johner” is considered to be one of the best estates in Germany and is well-known amongst most wine experts.
