Bodegas Mano a Mano
Manon Tempranillo 2017, Bodegas Mano a Mano
Spain / Vino de La Tierra de Castilla
Andy's Tasting Notes
Rich black cherry fruit with savoury and herbal hints. Excellent depth of flavour for its price. A really versatile red to enjoy with all fulsome food dishes.
La Mancha’s Mano a Mano winery is impressively surrounded by 300 hectares of old Tempranillo (locally known as Cencibel) vines at an altitude of 660m above sea level. The deep, sandy soils produce incredibly low yields here – just 1-2kg per vine.
Price per bottle £8.75
Located at the heart of Castilla, their spectacular winery can be found at Finca La Dehesa, surrounded by old Tempranillo vines (here also known as Cencibel). At around 700m altitude, the vines grow on poor sandy soils, largely gobelet-trained and averaging 50 years old. Grapes here mature rapidly, producing medium sized, compact and uniform bunches with thick skins – and their drought tolerance allows production of robust red wines with intense colour.
