A terrific contrast between elegant, ripe fruits and detailed complex flavours of violets, dried herbs, clove, dark chocolate, cedar and mineral. Super fine tannins add elegant structure and subtle use of high quality oak imparts a gently spicy overtone.
Will age superbly, but already drinking well if decanted 2 hours before serving.

Philip Shaw Wines are a byword for elegance and balance, and totally de-bunk the myth that all Australian wines are just big, just fruit, and just loud!!
Now in their 30th year of production (2019) the wines are produced in the 47 hectare Koomooloo Vineyard in the high altitude cool climate region of Orange. Soil structure is mainly limestone and volcanic rock with red loess top soil blown from Central Australia on the wind. All grapes are hand-sorted and rigorously selected.
