Rolf Binder Barossa Shiraz 2019

This is a great drinking Shiraz with a high price to quality ratio. Lots of dense, rich yet fresh and harmonious plum, blackberry and blueberry fruit. There’s an appealing savoury and spicy character and the tannins are perfectly integrated adding structure and balance. Fruit from five Barossa Valley Shiraz vineyards give a variety of characteristics and complexity to this wine.

Production notes – vintage: Wines from the Barossa and Eden Valleys’ 2019 vintage will be of very high quality but of limited supply. With a very dry winter and spring, frost events in September and November disrupted bud burst and flowering. Hot, dry conditions in January and February also contributed to 2019 being recorded as the lowest-yielding Barossa harvest of the past decade.

Production notes – vinification: All batches were crushed and fermented separately during the vintage period. A combination of traditional pumping over and heading down boards was used to extract the full potential of each wine. On completion of fermentation the batches were pressed and gently pumped to barrels to mature for a period of 11 months. The oak used was 4% new American, 3% new French, and 93% older American and French barrels. All batches were monitored carefully prior to blending to ensure that the full potential and style was to expectation and standard.
