Verdicchio di Matelica Vigneti del Cerro 2017, Cantine Belisario
Italy / Marche
Andy's Tasting Notes
Produced from a single vineyard located at 360 meters above sea level, with yields kept low to accentuate the unique character of the vineyard. The wine has hints of ripe grapefruit, subtle apricot and a hint of lemon on the finish. Texturally it is quite rich, yet refreshing acidity and minerally overtones lend a fresh and lingering character to the wine.
Price per bottle £14.30
Founded in 1971 this 300 hectare co-operative, situated in Matelica, has 24 organically cultivated vineyards where the climate is more continental. The combination of warm days and cool nights allows the aromatic qualities of the grapes to develop and extends the growing season, so that harvest takes place as late as the second half of October.
