Andy's Tasting Notes
A vibrant, refreshing and citrus tinged white which evokes lazy lunches looking out over an azure sea ……. (yes, we know we live in Yorkshire, but we can dream!!).
Straw yellow in colour with golden highlights, this wine is fresh with mineral aromas, along with hints of flowers, peaches and citrus fruit. On the palate, it is crisp with a refreshing mineral note and a long finish.
The vineyards were planted in 2005 at altitudes of 400-500 metres above sea level on the hills around Lake Arancio in Sambuca di Sicilia. The limestone soil offers excellent drainage, and the vines’ roots have to grow deep into the soil to reach for nutrients and water. The crystal clear water of the nearby lake creates an ideal micro-climate for vine growing and protects the vines from the heat of Sicilian summers.
Price per bottle £10.60
This is a young estate in southwestern Sicily, whose vineyards caught the eye and winemaking talents of Valentino Sciotti. Valentino saw they had great vineyards and a good winery but were missing the necessary expertise to make wines the market required. Valentino and his team of young winemakers have taken the raw materials and transformed them into wines that people want to drink.
