Villa Raiano Falanghina 2020
Italy / Campania
Andy's Tasting Notes
This has very appealing freshness and vitality with a waxy lemon peel nose and a touch of white flower. Bright acidity and soft white peach fruit on the palate. The grapes come from a vineyard at 400m in altitude, delicate whole bunch pressing and protective winemaking ensures this wine retains its vibrancy and fruit. Produced from mainly organic (but not exclusively) vines in the southern Apennines. (closure – cork)
As well as its commitment to organic viticulture, the estate has developed several projects with the purpose of increasing sustainability, including switching to lighter bottles that use less glass and using gravity to move wine from tank to tank instead of diesel or electric pumps or engines.
Price per bottle £13.50
The family-owned Villa Raiano was established in 1996, in the village of Raiano, Campania. In 2009, a new winery was built on top of a hill amongst vineyards and chestnut woods, overlooking the River Sabato near San Michele di Serino in the Southern Apennines.
